Don’t Take it to The Court Immediately! Simple Tips to Prevent Your Marriage from Heading to Divorceville
When sparks no longer fly, married couples head to Splitsville. Divorce isn’t always expensive but depending on how you end things with your former flame, it can usually rack in thousands of dollars in lawyer fees.
Here’s how it works: if you and your husband/wife didn’t end things nicely or amicably, there’s a high chance that you’re going to take it to court. Things get more complicated if there are children, assets, and debts involved.
It is worth pointing out that nobody wants to fall out of love with our better halves. In order to avoid heading to divorce, here are helpful tips to keep the marriage burning:
Give Space
The common misconception is that married couples should always be together. However, this could prove to be damaging because it could make both parties feel suffocated. Humans are social beings in the first place but we need space for ourselves as well.

Happy marriages are filled with many quality moments but these are also peppered with occasional alone time. Even before a person ties the knot with a partner, there has already been a sense of identity – and this won’t vanish after they become a Mr. or a Mrs. As such, the adage ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ is true.
Learn about Love Language

Marriage counselor Gary Chapman explained that there are five ways we can communicate: physical touch, acts of service, quality time, words of affirmation, and receiving gifts. Understanding how your other half shows love will help you form a stronger connection.
Try the 5:1 Ratio
All couples fight because unfortunately, even when you feel like you’re a match made in heaven, there would be things that you won’t simply see eye to eye. What you should focus on is how you are both going to go through a squabble.
The Gottman Institute said that one of the best indicators if a relationship is bound to last or not is the 5:1 ratio. For every negative interaction you had with your partner, you should offer five positive ones.
Avoid Fauxpologies
Fauxpologies are fake apologies. We are all guilty of this.
Oftentimes, when we hurt our significant other, we tend to be defensive because it’s hard to admit our fault. However, fauxpologies can wreak even more havoc in the relationship.

In reality, one party is blaming the other by trying to mask it as an apology but this will certainly leave wounds. Apologize properly – it won’t harm you or the other person if you swallow your pride.
