5 Fictional Lawyers We Admire
Lawyers are some of the most exciting people on earth which is why they become interesting subjects of TV shows. Here are some popular fictional lawyers who have risen to popularity.
Harvey Specter
This list would never be complete without a veteran who is at the top of his game. Harvey Specter, played by Gabriel Macht, is the lead character in “Suits.” Starring alongside Mike Ross, who is played by Patrick Adams, this veteran and novice duo take audiences on a thrilling ride on the legal angle of what would otherwise be day to day issues. From uncollected rent to vehicular collisions and some criminal cases, Harvey knows how he plays his game.
He, however, has a different approach. Dubbed as the “best closer,” Specter puts an end to litigation through compromise or settlement. This is his special skill set and this is why he is favored by many. On top of that, he looks really good and has some of the best wardrobe ever seen on TV.
Matt Murdock/Daredevil
[su_quote cite=”Matt Murdock / Daredevil” class=”cust-pagination”]”I would keep my promise. I would help those that others wouldn’t. I would seek justice… one way or another.”[/su_quote]
While Netflix’s “Daredevil” is not exactly what many would classify as a courtroom drama, it is quite comforting to know that this blind superhero happens to be an active law practitioner in New York City as well. Marvel fans know him to be a blind superhero who happens to be really agile and have sharp senses, but not too many know that Murdock uses his powers to his advantage as a lawyer.
So how can a blind superhero read in the first place? Murdock’s sense of touch is so sharp that he is able to feel what is written on paper, even if it is on ink and not on Braille. On top of that, seeing a lawyer go against some of New York’s biggest criminals with his fists and not in court will always be something worth watching.
Alicia Florrick

Legal TV show “The Good Wife” has been hailed by a lot of critics for its post-feminist legal angle, and it is truly empowering in a lot of ways. This show stars lawyer who later turned into a stay at home mother, whose life turns around when her state attorney husband gets caught up in a steamy scandal and sent to jail. As she still has two teenagers to provide for and a license to practice law anyway, she has to step up and climb onto the platform to learn once again the profession which she had bid goodbye for 15 years already.
This, of course, is not an easy feat to pull off in the competitive legal sphere or Chicago. Other than Florrick herself, the show also features some female characters who have very rich and deep personalities, some of them with dark sides. This show gives an angle on legal dramas which a lot of shows do not really pay attention to.
Marshall Eriksen

While you might want to watch legal dramas to see what happens in court, Marshall and his wife Lily as well as the rest of the gang which includes Ted, Barney and Robin take you into how a lawyer lives out of the court and without a pleading in hand. Played by Jason Segel, Marshall is one of the five main characters of legendary hit “How I Met Your Mother.”
Marshall starts off as a law student in the first few seasons. Later on, he passes the New York Bar exams, gets married, a legal position in Goliath National Bank where Barney Stinson works and gets through life’s many adventures. Of course, his knowledge of the law comes in handy at times when they get in trouble as well.
Jimmy McGil/Saul Goodman

Jimmy McGill, portrayed by Bob Odenkirk, was first introduced as a talented but unsuccessful lawyer in “Breaking Bad” who is overshadowed by his brother Chuck. With this at hand, he does all that he can to transform from a con man to a real lawyer, however, he encounters some ethical twists and corners from his big brother. This is when he adopts the alias Saul Goodman not as a lawyer, but as a producer.
McGill enters the show as someone enlisted by Walter White to help him launder the proceeds of his meth production. Later on, he turns into a light-hearted character who is mainly concerned with profit while others are concerned with life and death. He is the titular character in spinoff “Better Call Saul.”
Love them or hate them, lawyers know the law and how they apply. This is why they are respected or hated and why they influence the way they do. What do you think of these fictional attorneys? Share with us your thoughts in the comments below.
