Ted Turner is a world-renown media proprietor, businessman, and producer. He is the man behind CNN, meaning he founded the Cable News Network, as well as WTBS, which is considered to pioneer the concept of superstations in cable TV.
Ted has been living in affluence for several decades already and he bought the 4,680-acre St. Phillips island back in 1979. There he built a house and maintained the lush greenery surrounding it. The State of Carolina bought the island from him for $4.9 million later and they plan to open it to the public.
