A Rare Glimpse into the Fabulous Homes of the Rich and Famous
Ellen DeGeneres – Los Angeles, $34 Million
In her 2015 book “Home,” Ellen DeGeneres wrote about how she and Portia di Rossi dreamed their Montecito mansion in California’s elite coastal enclave would be their “forever home.” But as fate would have it, the $45 million Tuscan-inspired estate would later find a new proprietor, Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, for a negotiated $34 million in 2018.
A relic from the 1930s, architect Wallace Frost’s brainchild was an ode to 18th-century Italy. Ellen’s design touch brought its historic elegance to the fore, marrying rustic terracotta surfaces with contemporary aesthetics. It boasts six opulent bedrooms and eight resplendent bathrooms on a sprawling 10,500-square-foot property.
