A Rare Glimpse into the Fabulous Homes of the Rich and Famous
Elizabeth Dole – Salisbury, $350K
Elizabeth Dole’s most cherished possessions are her dining table and chairs, crafted by the skilled hands of Fred Craver, a revered cabinet maker from Davidson County, in her Salisbury home. Beyond this personal touch, the Hanford-Dole House stands as an icon of the grandeur of the Tudor Revival style in Salisbury.
Designed by the distinguished Charlotte architect William H. Peeps, its two-and-a-half stories boast a rich blend of stone, brick, stucco, and half-timbers. Inside, a gracefully curved staircase and striking Tudor arches welcome visitors. While most of the home stays true to its original design, a main bedroom suite was seamlessly added in the 1970s.
