Colin Tennant, 3rd Baron Glenconner – Mustique, Grenadine Islands, West Indies, Rumored $50K
Colin Tennant, 3rd Baron Glenconner, was a famous British aristocrat who was portrayed by actor David Shield in the television series The Crown. He lived his life as a socialite, traveling a lot before his succession to the peerage.
In 1958, he purchased the Caribbean island of Mustique for about $60K at the time. Colin then built housing, a new village in fact, and planted palms, fruit, and vegetables for the locals. He also gifted his close friend Princess Margaret a lot on the island, where she built Les Jolies Eaux, a holiday retreat. Colin died in 2010, aged eighty-three.
