Tech magnate Craig McCaw has almost two billion in his chequing account so he could definitely afford a private island of his own. He bought the James Island back in 1994 for $19 million but after almost two decades of owning it, he was able to sell the island for $75 million. In 2019 he also sold his Montecito mansion to Fox’s former head Gary Newman for $12.2 million.
