Younger audiences may know Aunjanue Ellis best for her role in the Netflix series “When They See Us.” But before that opportunity came in 2019, she’d appeared in other series like “The Practice,” “True Blood,” and “The Mentalist.” Success on the big screen came naturally with films like “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story.”
Interestingly, Ellis made her professional acting debut on a Broadway revival of “The Tempest” in 1995, where she played ‘Ariel.’ Her career has only gone up from there. In 2021, she played ‘Oracene ‘Brandy’ Williams’ in “King Richard.” And you may have caught her in the 2022 short film, “Fannie.”
