From Zendaya to Brigitte Bardot: Hollywood’s Golden Girls Who Have Forever Stolen Our Hearts

Robby Benson – Beauty and the Beast

The American actor Robby Benson has experienced a bit of everything life in show business offers. He rose to stardom in the ’70s, working as a teen idol on sports flicks such as “Ice Castles” and “One on One.” As he grew older, he leaned more into voice-acting work. He landed the best-known role of his career in the ’90s, starring as ‘Beast’ in the critically-acclaimed Walt Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast.”

Benson has since portrayed ‘Beast’ in many sequels and spin-offs and started a new career working as a TV director. He’s directed episodes of several hit TV shows, including “Friends.”

Blake Lively – The Shallows

Whether you first met Blake Lively in the CW drama series “Gossip Girl” or the 2015 movie “The Age of Adaline,” you’d agree that she’s one of the most memorable actresses in Hollywood. And not many know that she’s been in the acting business since the late ’90s.

Lively got her first taste of the big screen in junior school when she was cast as ‘Bridget’ in “The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants.” And she’s sure come a long way since 2005. In fact, in 2021, she made her directorial debut with the music video of a Taylor Swift, “I Bet You Think About Me.”

Brigitte Bardot – Contempt

The French actress and activist Brigitte Bardot may no longer be a heavy focus of the entertainment industry. But her withdrawal from that world cannot erase the influence she accrued over the decades. And her status as a pop culture icon remains all the more relevant.

Bardot rose to prominence in the early ’50s for playing emancipated and body-positive characters on screen. And by her retirement in 1973, she’d featured in over 45 movies, several musicals and recorded over 60 songs. She also appeared in the 2018 short film “Kissing.”
