Johnny Cash – Science Fiction Writer-Turned Acclaimed Songwriter/Singer
Long before becoming one of America’s best selling artists, Johnny Cash went by the pen name Johnny Dollar. Under that name, he wrote a series of short stories, including 1953s’ The Holografik Danser. The story explored a dystopian future where Russia had conquered America, with many major cities razed to the ground by a nuclear attack. Cash envisioned holographic entertainment beaming through living rooms at the price of $12 per show. Better than streaming TV services, eh? If that wasn’t incredible enough, he pictured human beings being able to project themselves into the holograms.
