Max Baer will go down in Hollywood folklore for the unique and amazing career switch he made. He gained fame for playing the loving, but somewhat idiotic Jethro Bodine on the cult classic show The Beverly Hillbillies. He played the character for the full run of the show, then moved into filmmaking.
He gained a reputation for making lots of money off small-budget films. He did this with Macon County Line, which made $25 million off $110K and Ode To Billy Joel, which took $29.65 million on a budget of $1.1 million. He is currently working his magic on a documentary called The Harlem Harlequin: Slapsie Maxie Rosenbloom.
