Hollywood Legends Who are Still Alive and Making Magic
Harry Belafonte – 94 Years Old
Harry Belafonte gave the world a whole new reason to dance when he broke through with the calypso sound that originated from the Caribbean. He is most famous for the calypso standard, The Banana Boat Song, which is recognized by the signature Day-O refrain.
Belafonte dabbled in other genres such as the blues, gospel, and folk. He also tried his hand at acting with films like Carmen Jones and Island in the Sun to his credit. Belafonte famously became the first African American to host a talk show when he took over the Tonight Show for five days from Johnny Carson in 1968.
