Hollywood’s Hidden Heroes: You Won’t Believe Which Celebrities Served in the Military!
Yogi Berra – Seaman Second Class, U.S. Navy
Yogi Berra, more famously known for his legendary baseball career with the New York Yankees, also had a less-known but equally important and impressive stint in the U.S. Navy. During World War II, Yogi, then a young, sprightly lad, served from 1943 to 1946.
As a Seaman Second Class, he was part of a Naval support craft at D-Day, witnessing history at Normandy Beach. His role? Ensuring the troops got to shore, a far cry from hitting home runs but equally heroic. Much like his sports career, Yogi’s military service was marked by bravery and a touch of his unique charm.
