Why Must We Die?
Life and death are among the most certain things about our existence. Just as we question the reason for the former, we also question the latter. Death is a part of biology, essential for the renewal and evolution of species. Aging and death in organisms are thought to result from accumulated damage and genetic limitations.
Death’s universality in complex organisms, including humans, touches on deeper existential questions. Interestingly, some species, like certain jellyfish and bacteria, show potential for immortality, but they are exceptions rather than the rule. However, we must wonder whether we also have this potential since these examples exist.
