Why Does Religion Require Faith But Science Needs Proof?

The contrast between faith in religion and the need for proof in science speaks to fundamentally different approaches to understanding the world. The former often relies on a belief in doctrines and deities to provide a sense of purpose without empirical evidence. Science, on the other hand, is based on such evidence and testable hypotheses.

It’s hard to understand religion through observation, experimentation, and reasoning, so it’s usually take it or leave it. Nonetheless, both facets play distinct roles in human life. While religion addresses moral, existential, and spiritual questions, science explains natural phenomena and expands our knowledge of the universe.
