Ben Carson and Candy Carson, 46 Years
The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2011 to 2021, Ben Carson, dedicated to his passion that his wife, Candy Carson, hardly saw him. He became the director of pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in 1984. Carson was the youngest leader of pediatric neurosurgery in the United States.
Carson and his wife, Detroit native Lacena “Candy” Rustin, met at Yale University in 1971 and married in 1975. They relocated to West Friendship, Maryland, in 1988. The couple has three sons, Rhoeyce, Benjamin Jr., and Murray, and several grandchildren. Carson resigned as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in January 2021.
