The year 2020 wasn’t kind to talk show star Ellen DeGeneres, who was dogged by controversy about her show and purported attitude. Many internet users condemned the comic, while others, including celebrities and personal friends of the benefactor, backed her.
Portia de Rossi, DeGeneres’ wife, was one of the first to rush to her side, initiating the “I Stand By Ellen” campaign. They met in 2004, and following the legalization of gay marriage in California, they married in August 2008. The duo celebrated its 13th anniversary in August 2021. Portia wrote on Instagram that “I married the love of my life 13 years ago. And it’s only getting better.”
