Mason Jars

Our great-grandparents and grandparents used canning jars to keep virtually everything from pickled okra to colorful marbles. Mason jars, sometimes referred to as antique canning jars, emerged in the market in the middle of the 19th century and have been in constant demand ever since.

Although mason jars are now mainly used to create country-chic drinks, collectors are drawn to the uniquely shaped, brightly colored, and perhaps impractical jars from earlier times. The most expensive mason jars are those produced between the 1840s and the ’20s by well-known manufacturers, such as Kerr Jars, Lightning Jars, Ball’s Upside-Down Jars, and Willoughby Stopple Jars.
