A Low-Budget Mascot

Once upon a time, sports organizations used to bring live animals to games to strike fear into the heart of the opposing team. Spectators also enjoyed the extra entertainment. However, once the Muppets became a thing in the late 1960s, corporations decided life-sized puppets would be more effective team ambassadors.

Of course, mascots today are much more than a source of entertainment during sports events. They also help give the team a face and identity so fans feel a sense of belonging with the players. But it’s hard to feel attached to a mascot with such a poorly-made costume.
