Falling is never fun, and this photo showcases the terror this woman must have felt when she was thrown into the air. Cheerleaders are trained to smile through the pain and put on a good show for the audience, regardless of the situation. So for this woman to look this fearful, something must have gone incredibly wrong.
We can only hope someone or several others were waiting to catch her before she hit the ground. After all, just because strains and sprains account for most cheerleading injuries doesn’t mean the athletes enjoy going through the pain.
