Accidents are totally inevitable, nobody knows when it will happen, how it will happen, where it will happen, and most of all if an accident is actually bound to happen. However, there is one thing people could do, and that is to try to prevent it from happening. If people are cautious and careful about their surroundings as well as how they do things, it could definitely be prevented.
These accidents are even worse if it happens in the workplace, that is why this article provides a few guidelines you can follow to prevent accidents and at the same time assess the risks of it in the workplace.

HOW MUCH CAN IT COST?
Slips and trips are said to be the most common cause of injury at work, and that is according to the Health and Safety Executive. Statistics say that employers spend more than $500 million a year when it comes to paying for all the accidents that occurred in their workplace, both employees and the public.
That is because every single person that is harmed within their area is their responsibility especially if it is an accident so all of them are at risk. It is a fact that there is something called workplace insurances, but this doesn’t cover every single expense, however, the costs to employers of legal actions resulting from falls can be considerable.
WHAT ARE THE RISK ASSESSMENT IN THE WORKPLACE?
The best way to avoid accidents in the workplace is to maintain the area, from the floors, walls, even furniture. It is ideal to have them all checked, in the floor coverings, cables, and more. If something is in a bad shape, change it immediately. It is also ideal to make sure that you know how many people are working in a specific area at a particular time.
If an accident happens like someone slip over wet floor, have that area checked by maintenance experts so that they could change the flooring or whatever it is that caused the floor to be slippery. Having your workplace regularly checked with people who know exactly what needs to be maintained or changed is very important, especially if you have a lot of employees working in that area since they are all your responsibility.

HOW TO REDUCE THE RISKS OF SLIPS, TRIPS, AND FALLS?
It is the employers duties to actually make sure that the workplace of their employees is safe, however, accidents really do sometimes happen and it is totally inevitable, that is why best for the employees to also keep their minds as well as all of their sense active so that they could avoid any slips, trips, and falls.
If there is a spillage, clean it immediately, or put a sign that indicates the fact that it is slippery and must not be walked on. It is best to use proper cleaning materials to make sure that once it was wiped off, it will long longer be slippery. As well as all the carpets or mats, since these things tend to put people at risk from trips. Poor lighting could also cause accidents so if it needs to be replaced, call the attention of the management to get it fixed.
The only thing that people can do is to simply be cautious of their surroundings, especially if their jobs are basically located or has got something to do with constructions because it literally screams ‘accident p-prone’ on it. Safety must always be a priority among many other things. Slips, trips, and falls might not sound so dangerous, but it can be especially if the working environment is dangerous.
